I guess this one can be closed once again.
No idea why he started using EPSG:4326, but setting his CRS to EPSG:3857 must have solved his problem.
Thanks

OK, I'm sorry. I should have asked him to create that ticket from within his own JOSM session.

Can this explain it? He's using:
WGS84 Geographic. EPSG:4326
It probably does. Now I feel silly for overlooking, that he had answered me that in our first communications.
The question now becomes, what should it be set to? And how come it changed to 4326 on his installation? He claims not to have changed anything recently. Or are we wrong with 3857?
Anyway, I don't understand much of CRS, but my first impression that the problem must be related to it, was correct, after all.
Thank you,
Jo
