Version 17 (modified by Hb---, 6 years ago) ( diff )

New Ctrl modifier, should further reduced to only two images

Parallel mode

source:trunk/images/mapmode/parallel.svg Keyboard shortcut: Shift+P

Creates a parallel copy of a path while preserving its radian. Multiple connected ways can form the path.

To make a parallel copy:

  1. Activate the Parallel mode by shortcut key or in the Edit toolbar.
  2. Click on the way which should be copied.
To prolong the path hold Shift and select more ways with the mouse. The path must be branchless.
  3. Drag the copy to the desired position.
  4. Release the left mouse button.

Modifiers are:

  • Alt to create a fresh object without the tags of the source ways and their nodes.
  • Crtl to override the snapping steps for the copy.

Normally the copy moves stepwise and cannot be dragged freely. It snaps in at each multiple of a stepping predefined distance. The default step width is 0.50 m on a Metric system.

Other uses

Could be used to draw rough stubs: doughnut-like building, pedestrian plazas in parks, mazes, parking, possibly retail outlets or other areas with highly nested objects/infrastructure.

Pedestrian plazas and fountains have similar patterns. Many barriers, hedges and walls are also placed in parallel to each other.
