#9314 closed defect (needinfo)

(A) keyboard shortcut on Mac strange behavior after moving with right button emulated

Reported by: anonymous Owned by: anonymous
Priority: normal Milestone:
Component: Core Version: tested
Keywords: mac osx Cc: Lesath

Description

As I am working on a Macbook without attaching external USB mouse I use mouse button emulation to simulate right-click for moving around on the map. If I try to draw new symbols after moving around the map, keyboard shortcut (A) creates new nodes without attaching them to selected way. It seems that if I unselect all objects, and goes to draw mode selecting with the mouse, behavior returns to normal.

A few moves around the map doesn't seem to affect this.

I had the same abnormal behavior in previous Mac package, and now continues with the latest

Workaround to the problem: unselect all objects, change mode using mouse instead of keyboard shortcuts

Hardware: Macbook Pro with OS X 10.8 and Java 7, one button touchpad with emulation of right mouse button (control-mouse click)

"Java 7" is not enough detailed for OS X specific issues, please post your complete system info (first three blocks of Help -> Show status report) and make sure to use the very latest version of Java (7u45 right now, but please upgrade to 7u51 in January if the bug is still here). It is probably a Java bug as Java 7 support on Mac is quite new and full of bugs.

bash-3.2$ java -version
java version "1.7.0_40"
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.7.0_40-b43)
Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 24.0-b56, mixed mode)

I will upgrade to 7u45 as soon as possible to see if that helps, and definitely upgrade to 7u51 when available (I thought I had 7u45 installed?)

@Lesath: can you check if this problem's reproducible?

Not sure if I understand completely this bug.

Build-Date: 2014-06-06 10:10:39
Revision: 7216
Is-Local-Build: true

Identification: JOSM/1.5 (7216 SVN en) Mac OS X 10.9.3
Memory Usage: 180 MB / 455 MB (63 MB allocated, but free)
Java version: 1.7.0_55, Oracle Corporation, Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM

I've tried to add new points with my trackpad - but im my opinion

Are there any steps that I can reproduce this behavior like:

  1. Press A
  2. CTRL-Click on the map and move
  3. It adds a point

(Those steps working for me).

Maybe it shouldn't add a point while moving with a CTRL+Click on the map like this:

  1. Press A
  2. CTRL-Click on the map and move

So no point is added. As I say I dont understand it completely.

I don't understand neither and we still don't know the josm version used. Please reopen if you manage to add required info (full status report) and detailed description. Screenshots and/or a video should be great to understand the issue.
