Extrude snaps to a sparse grid

If I zoom in enough, the extrude action only allows extruding in increments of about 20 to 40 cm, apparently depending on the orientation of the original segment. Not only that, but it does that snapping independently in both north/south and east/west directions. The result is, for example, a skewed building of incorrect size.

You'll see the problem when the zoom scale reads 2 meters or less. It's likely more visible here far north (lat 60) where the unwanted steps are in the north/south direction bigger than in the other direction.

The defect appeared sometime before 2561, and is still present in 2698.

I have noticed this also (currently running 3174). One workaround is to extrude and then orthogonalize (tools->orthogonlize or 'q').

Cool, I confirm that my buildings are much more square as of r3184.
