How to display keyboard shortcuts in the wiki help pages?

Description

I just noticed following changes on Mode Menu (#1 and #2) which introduce a new format to display shortcuts. So far, the keys to press are combined with plus symbols in one unformatted text box. The new approach seems to try to exclude the plus symbols from the unformatted text box. What is the benefit from this new approach and is it worth the effort to change the shortcut format on all pages including all translations?

I saw in Help/Preferences/Shortcuts that the plus sign is formatted differently there and I followed that.
I thought it was a typo on the Mode Menu page and wanted to correct it.
Sorry, my mistake.
Can you please revert my Mode Menu page changes to rev 16?
I can also fix it on above-mentioned Shortcuts page.
OK?

Replying to HeiKue:

Well it was more or less the opposite.

Sorry, my mistake.

No problem.

Can you please revert my Mode Menu page changes to rev 16?

Dirk, would you do that, please.

I can also fix it on above-mentioned Shortcuts page.
OK?

I changed it already but thanks for the hint.

Shouldn't the + with mouse buttons follow the same format as shortcuts? Select

oh, yes!
I copied it from "Toggle" line.
I think the distinction between Windows/Linux/Mac is also not so easy to read.
What do you think of the following formatting principle (using Toggle example):
Ctrl + left mouse click (Windows/Linux) or Cmd + left mouse click (Mac)
instead of:
Ctrl (Windows/Linux) or Cmd (Mac) plus Left mouse click

yes, indeed, I think it's easier to read

I always stumble over the + when I see shortcuts because, in my experience, the display is unusual.
For example: Ctrl + left mouse click
The plus is formatted in the same way as the keys to be pressed, so you might think that the plus key should also be pressed.
However, the plus only stands for the fact that Ctrl and left mouse click has to be pressed together.
So Ctrl+left mouse click could be more intuitive to read and understand.
Each (mouse) key is individually formatted (enclosed in grave accents), making it easier to recognise as a single key.
What do you think?

This is mainly an issue since the display looks like a button. That wasn't the case in the past.

Anyway it is not really possible. Such a change would be to minor to be a reason to change hundreds of pages. It took years to get the wiki: → wikitr: changes done and that was much more important.

OK, it was just an attempt to kick it off ;-)
