What steps will reproduce the problem?

1. install plug-in "mapwithAI'dev"
2. preferences > display doesn't open completely. I cannot choose osmdata/gpspoints/colours/look and feel/
3.

I'm not seeing any problems when I try to reproduce.

Please note that the Display Settings preferences panel was reworked awhile back (see #7548), so you might be coming from an older version of JOSM (probably pre r17159, 2020-10-11).

In that case, OSM Data, GPS Points, and Colors are now their own preference tab.
