Geotagged images layer does not update when selected image is changed

What steps will reproduce the problem?

1. Load the session file attached to #14579
2. Change the selected image twice by clicking on the camera icons
3. Change the selected image twice by clicking on the next button in the image viewer window
4. Observe that the highlighted camera icon and the direction arrow are not always updated, but the file name in the viewer window is updated
5. Right-click and drag to move the viewport and observe that the layer is now updated

Please provide any additional information below. Attach a screenshot if possible.
