Description
Surprisingly, it wasn't attempted at Maps#Documentation:
- spatial resolution (per pixel I guess)
- date of the most recent update to Imagery
These are the most important for Imagery. Maps/Germany#Erlangenaerialimagery20165.0cm
Personally I would frequently pick: resolution, date DESC - to add more details (to me - this is always the case)
but very rarely: date DESC, resolution - to update some area (constructions are not so frequent)
Instead of fiddling with "Imagery" menus (many items) I would trust JOSM to to pick: 1. most detailed and latest, 2. latest and somewhat detailed.

an imagery entry "most detailed" - that will work across the globe and take from the most detailed imagery source that's available for given place?
Maybe, but maybe JOSM should "read my mind" in the way I tell him "always switch to the most detailed".
I would prefer as few human actions as possible (less short-cuts to press, less menu items to find)
as long as user has the ability to select different layer.
We could make 2 "magic items" above ordinary "imagery" options.
3rd magic item could be "switch to next imagery".
This is fine, as long as user has the ability to select different layer.
And for many imagery providers I guess, that we can't provide any date, resolution, as it changes from are to area - see for example Bing, but it's the same problem for Geoportal in Poland.
Or do you mean, to create an imagery entry "most detailed" - that will work across the globe and take from the most detailed imagery source that's available for given place? So as you pan around, you JOSM will be showing tiles from different sources?
