relation not appearing in relation list

I was downloading a relation with the "download object" dialogue, but even if this relation was then selected, it didn't appear in the relation list. See attached screenshot.

sorry, this relation is deleted, likely this is the problem. Still, I believe the current behaviour is confusing (How can I select something that is deleted?)

btw., I now downloaded the relation with "undelete object", and could open it in the relation editor, but the relation list continues to be empty. Very confusing.
