Paiement as translation of note in French

What steps will reproduce the problem?

Hello,
Just signaling that the bad translation discussed there: https://josm.openstreetmap.de/ticket/8645 (comment 79 and following) is still present in last tested. In France, it really looks like the notes not-plugin is still in beta with such an unreliable unprobable translation for « Note ».
Just also reminding that it seemed that correcting the translation was not just a question of launchpad use.

Actually, I'm not so sure this would be a good idea: last translation dates from 2010, the notes were not invented back then. But if you promise I won't break anything else by changing it…

At the bottom you see, where the string is used: Located in ../core/src/org/openstreetmap/josm/gui/layer/NoteLayer.java:113 So only at this single position. Payment related "note" strings now have a translation context, e.g. ​https://translations.launchpad.net/josm/trunk/+pots/josm/fr/5607/+translate

Please go and fix the translations of your native language. The JOSM developers are not able to translate all the languages themselves. Community work is required.

@JB: can you please share the word on @talk-fr that Launchpad works fine now, and that's the French community should help to translate JOSM to catch up with other languages? (german, etc.) :)

Hey, first feedback from french contributors is not very welcoming to launchpad. On talk-fr, 2 answers telling they get this error message, and can do nothing with it:
Error in Translation: a format specification for argument {0} doesn't exist in 'msgstr'
Actually, I got the same one the first time I contributed.
That was just for the feedback, no answer expected.

That simply means "When there is a {0} in original string, then there must be a {0} also in the translated one".

Sure, and I'm sure that's what they did, at least that's what I did. Probably some twitch that makes it unrecognized the first time you edit.

3 weeks for 8 strings. French translation is really way back behind German, Russian, Czech, Ukrainian and even Catalan and Asturian.
