Description
Hi,
thanks for the new address preset! ( #10300 )
Unfortunately, the German translation uses "Ortsname" twice, for addr:place and addr:city. I asked at the forum for some ideas ( http://forum.openstreetmap.org/viewtopic.php?id=26830 ) and entered these suggested translations in launchpad now (still need reviewing):
key current proposed translation translation addr:housenumber > Hausnummer >> Hausnummer addr:street > Straßenname >> Straße addr:place > Ortsname >> Ortsname (statt Straße) addr:city > Ortsname >> Ort addr:postcode > Postleitzahl >> Postleitzahl addr:country > Ländercode >> Ländercode Optionale Werte für bestimmte Länder addr:housename > Hausname >> Hausname (v.a. UK) addr:suburb > Stadtteil >> Ortsteil addr:subdistrict > Subdistrikt >> Unterbezirk addr:district > Bezirk >> Bezirk addr:province > Provinz >> Provinz (v.a. Kanada) addr:state > Bundesland >> Bundesstaat (v.a. USA)
These would fit with the way addresses work in Germany and make it clear to German users of JOSM that addr:housename and -state are not used in Germany normally. Also, addr:place is used when there are no named streets.
I noticed that some strings are used more than once: State and Suburb are also used in the "Places" menu, Street name is also in "Associated Street".
I think "suburb" -> "Ortsteil" is OK or better also for place=suburb.
I've not found where the Associated Street "Street name" is used. But "Straße" will hopefully be OK.
Only "State" -> "Bundesstaat (v.a. USA)" will look a bit weird in the menu, when people want to make a node with place=state somewhere in the world.
Maybe these should be separate strings? Or all of them?

- Once again, the translation is done within lauchpad (wiki:Translations#Softwaretranslation).
- The strings for addr:place and addr:city defer (e.g. no separation needed)
Is there a possibility to diversify preset contents but e.g. Country-Code on offer the proper one using the position of the object ?
Otherwise some switch in settings could be used.

Yes, I entered my translations there already. First as a "review needed", then just as new translation. I just want to point out that this has been done and needs importing (it seems this is done manually?)

Yes, I have translated them as in the code-block.
The strings that are re-used are "State", "Suburb", "Street name". With my changed translation, "State" might look worse in the menu. The rest should be OK.

This should be fixed. It was only a translation adjustment!?

Could you check this before the next tested version is released?
The main point is not to have "Ortsname" twice.
