plus key not working to zoom in

Was working on josm from my laptop yesterday and it was the first time i was using it without an external mouse and found the experience quite hard because i wasnt able to zoom in with the '+' key. As the laptop doesnt have the number keypad found in normal desktop keyboards, so i tried pressing shift + '=' to equal a '+' but this didnt work, though the '-' key to the left of it worked for zooming out. While writing this, i noticed both the '-' and shift+'=' dont work for zooming in and out on the 'download from osm' dialog.
