The tag is strange so.
The major use is pk=* but the correct English term would be kp=*. On the wiki page for milestone it is also mentioned that a unit is mandatory which contradicts all other number values which have a default unit. Probably we should clear these issues first on tagging@….

Even talking about simply using milestone=*way to avoid collision with other *way=*.

Yes, taginfo lists more highway=milestone + distance=* than pk=*. No direct numbers for the other *=milestone so far but they are not that many.

*way=milestoneto the internal preset but this ticket is primary about rendering (e.g. internal mappaint) and preferringpk=*instead ofref=*.
