You need to give some more details.

I assume you're using Mac OS.

Can you reproduce this?

When does this happen? How are you connected to the internet? Have there been any disconnects? Do other Java applications have similar problems?

comment:3 by anonymous, 14 years ago

Yes I am using Mac OS and the last stable version which is 4064.

To reproduce it is easy, in my case anyway, i just have to select a part of a map i want to download, whatever its size, respecting the limit, and when startting the download i get this error message.
Usually if I leave JOSM and relaunch it, I may have some better luck to get something. I don't know if the more I add things on the map, the more JOSM has reliability troubles.
I delated ALL my JOSM settings, but not any better luck. It is doing for long time and several versions already.

My map is 76 Mo and still don't even cover the size of the city so I can't work because a lot of it is still missing and I can't work on relations well without the whole city.

So since it is almsot impossible with another bug to update my recorded map, it becomes more and more difficult to use JOSM, so i have to use Potlach 2 for now ...

I looks like you have internet access trouble (e.g. long timing, probably caused by proxy services). Try loading smaller parts of the map. You can load them step by step and don't need to load all at once (disable the checkbox to load everything into a new layer in this case).

Replying to anonymous:

My map is 76 Mo and still don't even cover the size of the city so I can't work because a lot of it is still missing and I can't work on relations well without the whole city.

You can also download certain objects if you know their ids with "download objects" under the file menu and in the relation toggle dialog or the relation editor you can always download all (incomplete) members of a relation. But please be careful when editing because using these methods you might not have download all references. You can download references by selecting the objects and executing "download child/parent objects" under the file menu.

Hope that helps.

@ stoecker

Well i don't use any proxy services and I have a 10 Mbs / 1 Mbs bandwidth.

With what I am trying to do to load small parts but even with tiny selections, i don't get any better results.

@ skyper

but i don't want to download only certain objects, i need the complete map do be able to edit it. Plus you image to get the reference number of each object? And to get it I will need to connect to Potlach? So that i'd better to use directly ... But using Potlach I can't save the datas and work offline. Anyway JOSM is not working anymore anyhow since the update is not working anymore.

a) What Java version do you use?

b) You also have no transparent proxies?

c) Can you use wireshark or similar tool and analyze what really happens on the connection?
