Blink-Feature for Layers

Description
After tracing stuff from a WMS layer, I repeatedly toggle layer visibility on/off to check if I've forgotten somewhere something. Forgotten roads or buildings usually then jump right into the eyes :-) It is the principle of a blink comparator http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blink_comparator
Would be nice if e.g. right-click on the eye-icon would allow switch on blinking, with the blink-rate definable in the settings.
Or at least having some keyboard-shortcut for toggling visibility of the active layer.

If you push the hide/show-button it is selected. If you would push TAB it will select the next button and if you push SPACE it will perform the push-action of this button.
So your current suggestion is as easy as it sounds:
- first push of hide/show button
- every push of the SPACE key will hide and show you layer again
- you can even move around the map

I would also like shortcuts for toggling layers on/off.
Example:
shortcut 1 assigned to a data layer
shortcut 2 assigned to bing imagery
