Feature to select inside polygon.

When loading CanVec XML files it creates a mess of multi-polygons. In some cases I have an area of +8000 points as an outer and about +150 objects in the centre. At the moment I have to click each object in the middle one at a time so I can copy the attributes to the outer object (which has no attributes), create the multi-polygon and then remove the nature, landuse or other key elements from the inner objects.

It would be nice to have a feature to just select the outer polygon and have everything inside the polygon select as well.

Not exactly sure what you're trying to do, but I believe it is answered by one of the following:

• UtilsPlugin2 provides Replace Geometry, which can replace or upgrade a node to a way, transferring tags in the process
• #7313 is about replacing a node with a multipolygon with that same command
• The plugin provides for selecting all objects inside an area (closed way or multipolygon)
