Description
Hello everybody.
I think it would be very useful to display streets and ways in their correct width how they are displayed in openstreetmap.org. Well If streets are sometimes several meters wide it is too hard to set other thinks along streets if you do not know how wide they are because you only can see very thin lines.
So I even could be that these point along streets won't rendert correctly in openstreetmaps.

Actually there is an hidden option to show real width (when provided). Otherwise this can be fixed with another external JOSM style using different widths. If you want such a style, take the internal one and adapt settings until you like the result. You can then offer this style at Styles.
Don't map for the renderer!
If a renderer does not detect collisions it needs to be fixed. Every renderer likely renders streets with a different width. To adjust the location of objects so they are rendered beautifully on a map that happens to be on osm.org is a bad idea. If the person in charge of the render style decides to make some streets a little bit wider will you go and adjust the location of all objects you want to show up directly next to the street?
I think this is a wontfix.
