Description
The tag "lit" telling whether an object is lit or not by night. Especially this is usefull for street. The proposal is to add an optional attribute to the "highways" in OSM, this means all the highway that are in the "streets" menu. It's not usefull to add this option to tracks and path, as they are very seldom lit.

I am not a java programmer, and I don't have any tool to compile and check this but as far as I have understood the code, the "problem" lies in the preset.xml file. Adding a line like this:
<check key="lit" text="Lit" default="off" delete_if_empty="true" />
to each of the roads may be the solution. This includes:
- motorway
- motorway_link
- trunk
- trunk_link
- primary
- primary_link
- secondary
- tertiary
- unclassified
- residential
- living_street
- pedestrian
- service
- service/parking_aisle
- road
- junction/roundabout
and optionnally:
- Bridge
- Tunnel
- steps

Replying to HB9DTX:

I have many path that are lit, and I think it is more irritating if it is not shown for tracks than the advantage of saving a little bit of space.

Works fine. I've translated the tag in french as well on Lauhchpad. Thanks for the efficient work.
