#3540 closed enhancement (fixed)

Update links to OSM wiki in presets.xml to match the wiki's content

Reported by: avarab@… Owned by: team
Priority: major Milestone: 14.01
Component: Internal preset Version: latest
Keywords: preset wiki link update Cc:

Description (last modified by skyper)

I've created a script for the OpenStreetMap website which extracts the complete list of description pages for keys & tags.

It would be interesting if someone were to use the list I generated to update JOSM's presets.xml. Perhaps I could help? Is presets.xml manually maintained now?

This is a job for dummies and no human brain is needed. E.g. this should be done automatically by a machine.

@avar:
It got quiet. Are you still interested in helping ?

I've created a script to document editor top-level support for presets:

Note that the iD editor is currently leading the way in terms of bringing tag documentation directly into the editing experience.

As already reported on josm-dev@, you still miss some tags which are present JOSM !

  • I am not sure if you properly evaluate the combos.
    • By default all combos allow to enter text, too.

As it says at the top of http://obviously.com/temp/osm/osmlg.html that grid is the top level presets only (the "item" tag in JOSM, and the equivalent in the others).

A future version will compare combinations supported by each editor. Those will appear under each top level tag (e.g. amenity=toilets combines with toilets:position={squat;seated;urinal} ).

Please, fill tickets against the editors which support invalid/deprecated tags. Thanks.

Yes, the goal of creating the comparison grid is to find and report inconsistencies.

But the goal of THIS ticket is a minor patch to toilets/drinking water and farm stands.

EDT: Wrong ticket. We are talking about #8815

So far, I am the only person who did vote (right hand side on top of page), or did someone vote negative ?

Sorry for not mentioning my opinion in words but as I did only comment on format I'd thought it was understood as at least "OK".

Sorry, you mixed tickets also :-)

What would be most useful is a script that for each tag in defaultpresets.xml, scans the wiki to find a matching description, and scans for all the supported language variants at the same time.

What do you think how I do update these texts when I do so? :-)

Excellent, stoecker. This ticket seemed to presume you needed such a script :-).

No. I have one which updates existing information. There is nothing like scan the wiki and update missing keys, ... which this ticket is about. My script takes the currently added link entries and adds missing links for these by scanning the English page.

Could you run your script again please ? or share it ? - Thanks

I find quite often new translated pages the last days and it would be nice to run it once a month.
