Description
Hi-
I can't open the JOSM editor and I am getting a Java Security error message. I've tried Chrome, MS Edge, and Firefox. As you can guess, I know nothing about Java or security certificates. I put in a ticket to my IT department and they said the problem is not on my end. The tech wrote:
"I found this explanation from Java about the issue you are having. It appears that this is something the developer or publisher of that software will have to correct. Please contact them and see if they can correct this. I will close this ticket out, but feel free to email me any questions you may have regarding this.

"
Thanks for any insight.
-John

I assume you are running the jar.
We use a self-signed certificate which is an issue in your environment. We used to pay for a code signing certificate, but due to code signing certificate requirement changes in the past year or so, that became a non-starter from a philosophical perspective for the lead maintainer.
We do have installers which may work in your environment (assuming macOS or Windows). If you are on Linux, there is a flatpak available.

Replying to taylor.smock:

Philosophical I was always against this. Now it is too complicated to be practical (and also very expensive :-)

@John.Schmid: if you want to read the full story, see #23107.
Again, I would recommend trying the installers (Windows or macOS). Alternatively, JOSM is available in the Microsoft Store.
