Description
Hello, im trying to import jeepney lines from the Philippines on JOSM but its always saying that its too big... its actually almost one Mb for 404 bus lines, isnt it reasonable ??? thats a big country, and i want to do the same with other cities/countries... Is there a way to get better limits so i can work easier ???

I assume you are talking about downloading data from OSM to conflate. Have you gone through the import process? If not, do that first.
Anyway, I would recommend using an overpass query for all nodes, ways, and relations in the area.

My understand of the ticket is that they try to load the attached file and get an error message. My guess would be a 32bit JRE in that case.

Thanks for your report, however your ticket is incomplete and therefore not helpful in its current form.
Please add all needed information according to this list:
- The required parts of the Status Report from your JOSM.
- Please, use
Report Bug from Help menu and copy & paste.
- Please, use
- Describe what behaviour you expected.
- Describe what did happen instead.
- Describe if and how the issue is reproducible.
- Add any relevant information like error messages or screenshots.
To ensure that all technical relevant information is contained, create new tickets by clicking in JOSMs Main Menu on Help → Report Bug.
Remember: This is a generic notice so we don't need to write the same stuff again and again. It may only apply in parts to the specific case!
I have no problem opening the file in JOSM. Though as Taylor already mentioned, this file looks like an import and even the current form would be only usable as reference for the routes without stops.

My understand of the ticket is that they try to load the attached file and get an error message. My guess would be a 32bit JRE in that case.
My understanding was they got the Download area too large; will probably be rejected by server
and a Bad Request
response from the server about The area you tried to download is too big or your request was too large.
Both of those are working as expected (@thelabxl: the OSM server software has limits to how much data it can return in a request, we try to indicate that the server may have issues and then show the returned issue by the server).
In either case, it looks like @thelabxl wanted to import data into OpenStreetMap, which means that they should be going through the import process.
@thelabxl: We do not help with the import process itself (at least, not on this issue tracker); if you find a bug in our software and report it, we will fix that bug. You can also request an enhancement to our software. Otherwise, please follow the process I linked to in comment:1.

Yes you understood the problem. But you don't consider this as a bug ??? There is no any information about how to do something kinda basic, no any information about the limitation or anything ????

Ok. That is not our issue.
The OSM server has introduced rate limiting specifically to avoid vandalism.
The import process has a section specifically about that. You can work around it by following the import process.
OSM is generally edited by people making relatively small edits (think of the data inside a city block). Some people do work up to larger edits, but the rate limiting specifically works around that by giving consistent editors a higher rate limit.

And - just to mention - the data in jeepney.osm is not at all suitable for an import into OSM. I didn't even think about the idea that someone would try to upload that.

Oh, why so ??? On my end its literally the opposite, I'm wondering why it didn't happen 10 years ago. You don't think it's important than people have access to informations about public transportation online???
About the data, JOSM can show the the data without any issues so why its not suitable ???? Any better system to give everyone access to these crucial informations ????

Read the rules about imports and you'll understand. This isn't related to JOSM, only to the rules of the project OSM.

As a mapper who added, updated and fixed quite a lot of public transport relations, I can tell you that OSM is quite interested in the bus routes. Though there are quite some rules regarding imports and public transport tagging is one of the most complex tasks which often needs some experience. As this has nothing to do with JOSM, I invite you to move over to e.g. https://community.osm.org to discuss the issues and help you understanding the import and the tagging.
