Plugins disappear seemingly at random on restart

Description

Some users across the OSM Slack and Discord have reported losing all of their plugins after starting JOSM. The plugins can be recovered by redownload. The cause is completely unclear at this time and may not be a JOSM issue but I figured it would be easier to collection information here until we can determine either way. I have not experienced the issue myself.

User Compusomnia on the Discord had this happen a few days ago ( ). Here is their version info:
JOSM: 18583
Java: 17.0.5
Edition Windows 10 Pro
Version 21H2
Installed on ‎2021-‎03-‎19
OS build 19044.2251
Experience Windows Feature Experience Pack 120.2212.4180.0

User Peter on the US OSM Slack had it occur around the same time. Here is their version info:
Ubuntu 20.04 on kernel 5.4.0-135-generic, JOSM 18583.

Can you please add the status report information? I'm going to use the badticket macro to make certain I link to the right places.


Thanks for your report, however your ticket is incomplete and therefore not helpful in its current form.

Please add all needed information according to this list:

  • The required parts of the Status Report from your JOSM.
  • Describe what behaviour you expected.
  • Describe what did happen instead.
  • Describe if and how the issue is reproducible.
  • Add any relevant information like error messages or screenshots.

To ensure that all technical relevant information is contained, create new tickets by clicking in JOSMs Main Menu on Helpsource:trunk/resources/images/bug.svg Report Bug.

Remember: This is a generic notice so we don't need to write the same stuff again and again. It may only apply in parts to the specific case!



If you can also get the console output from the run where the plugins disappeared, that would also be helpful.

Change Properties
Set your email in Preferences
Action
as new The owner will remain team.
as The resolution will be set. Next status will be 'closed'.
to The owner will be changed from team to the specified user.
Next status will be 'needinfo'. The owner will be changed from team to watmildon.
as duplicate The resolution will be set to duplicate. Next status will be 'closed'. The specified ticket will be cross-referenced with this ticket.
The owner will be changed from team to anonymous. Next status will be 'assigned'.
