Summary: Erro ao iniciar o JOSMError at launching

comment:2 by taylor.smock, 4 years ago

From comment:1:ticket:22110 (skyper)

How do you download/install JOSM?
How do you start JOSM?

Seems, you are missing some options on startup: --add-exports=java.base/sun.security.action=ALL-UNNAMED --add-exports=java.desktop/com.sun.imageio.plugins.jpeg=ALL-UNNAMED --add-exports=java.desktop/com.sun.imageio.spi=ALL-UNNAMED

On Ubuntu, I suggest to use our Ubuntu packages which ship a proper startup script with the needed options.

Hi,

I've been using JOSM for years launched from Gnome bar and the desktop script was the one below:

[Desktop Entry]
Type=Application
Version=1.0
Name=My JOSM
GenericName=Java OpenStreetMap Editor
Comment=Extensible off-line editor for OpenStreetMap (OSM)
Icon=org-openstreetmap-josm-main.png
Path=/home/fidelis/fontes/josm
Exec=java -jar josm-tested.jar %F
Terminal=false
MimeType=application/x-osm+xml;application/x-gpx+xml;x-scheme-handler/geo;
StartupNotify=true
Categories=Education;Geoscience;Maps;
StartupWMClass=org-openstreetmap-josm-Main
Keywords=OpenStreetMap;OSM;

Every time I download a new JOSM version I just change the link "josm-tested.jar" to point to the new version. It always worked fine until version 18463.

Now, I edited the .desktop script to add your suggested startup options to the Exec line and it worked!

Many Thanks!

I'm glad to hear that you found a workaround. With that said, we highly recommend using the Ubuntu packages if at all possible. Otherwise, we do have a snap and there is an unofficial flatpak available.

If you cannot use the Ubuntu packages, you may want to look at updating your .desktop file. See source:trunk/native/linux/tested/usr/share/applications/org.openstreetmap.josm.desktop (specifically StartupWMClass).

I've followed your suggestion and installed the Ubundu package.

Thanks again.

Replying to fidelis.assis@…:

I've followed your suggestion and installed the Ubundu package.

Thanks again.

Does it correctly pass all options?
I currently have problems with it, see #22157.

Yes, I've checked the command line and all 3 optinsn you've mentioned are there:

/usr/lib/jvm/java-17-oracle/bin/java
--module-path /usr/share/openjfx/lib
--add-modules java.scripting,java.sql,javafx.controls,javafx.media,javafx.swing,javafx.web
-Djosm.restart=true -Djava.net.useSystemProxies=true
--add-exports=java.base/sun.security.action=ALL-UNNAMED
--add-exports=java.desktop/com.sun.imageio.plugins.jpeg=ALL-UNNAMED
--add-exports=java.desktop/com.sun.imageio.spi=ALL-UNNAMED

@skyper:
It is probably working properly because it found /usr/lib/jvm/java-17-oracle/bin/java. The code prior to r18497 used elif [[ "${JAVACMD}" =~ 'java-1' ]], which would see the java-17-oracle and continue to add the appropriate arguments. I believe your initial problem was that #!/bin/bash was not keeping environment variables, thus unsetting the JAVA_HOME variable (so /bin/java), which then caused some cascading failures which are fixed in r18497.
