Description

Having been told to update today, the new Windows installer (apparently for version 18360) removes JOSM, deletes the pinned icon from the taskbar, then fails. If I try to run it again, it says "please wait while Windows configures JOSM", a progress bar appears, then the installer closes.

I'm using fully-patched Windows 10.

Unlike the incident I reported in #21307, I am no longer able to run JOSM, and so am unable to provide a status report.

Correction: Although it appeared to fail, and deleted the shortcut, it has in fact installed version 18360, but without reporting having done so.

I had a very similar experience last night after attempting to install the update (Win installer, Win 10/64) and resorted to running the 18360 josm-tested.jar and the josm.jnlp.

I've also had issues with the installer, however, without it actually installing anything. Clicking the downloaded .exe file simply opens the installer prompt with the initial message "Please wait while Windows configures JOSM" and then disappears when the loading bar reaches the end. It has been an issue since 18118 which is the latest version successfully installed.
I'd prefer not to uninstall the current version since I have quite a few plugins installed.

See the issue linked in my original post: #21307; the fix there worked for me, that time, and backing up my profile preserved my plugins and other settings.

See wiki:Help/Preferences#JOSMpreferencedatacachedirectories for what to back up. I don't think the uninstaller will remove those directories though.

Set your email in Preferences
Action
as closed The owner will remain team.
as The resolution will be set.
The resolution will be deleted. Next status will be 'reopened'.
