Description
What steps will reproduce the problem?
- Create a new node
What is the expected result?
The new node is added and the layer doesn't move.
What happens instead?
The layer pans to the newly added node.
If intentional, There doesn't seem to be any option in setting to toggle this behaviour using obvious keywords "center", "pan", "new node", "scroll"
Please provide any additional information below. Attach a screenshot if possible.

You need to disable viewport following in the view menu.

Thanks, I wasn't aware of this option and probably have inadvertently used the keyboard shortcut.

Seems #17654 didn't help?
Mmh, as it is a permanent change in behavior, a difference between a simple notification and this info might be useful. Another option would be to hide the option to close/disable this notification in preferences and only present a link to preferences in the notification.
Even better would be a permanent visible indication perhaps in the status bar with direct option to disable.
Just my 0.815 cents.

No idea what you mean here.

I think the user is already aware that something has changed. IMHO the problem is that nobody associates "Viewport following" with this behaviour.

Right now, the notification is in the same color as normal notifications and has the button to close it plus it vanishes after a certain time. We have several options:
- different background color
- Some icon in notification
- Different place
- Do not vanish after time
- Do not include button to close but:
- Have an preference setting to not show the notification
- Have a link to open the corresponding preference dialog in the notification.
Even better would be a permanent visible indication perhaps in the status bar with direct option to disable.

You are right.

This and that the users don't know what triggered this behavior.
