Implement JOSM update server timeout

Description

A few hours ago I tried to open JOSM dev version, as I use it primarily, not the tested. The progress bar on the 'Downloading new version' dialogue didn't show up and nothing happened. After long waiting, I decided to clear the java cache when I noticed the website (josm.openstreetmap.de) wasn't accessible.

I know there are server availability checks (popped up at least once since I use JOSM), but I think these not cover all the possibilities.

JOSM should have reminded me that something is not okay with the update servers, but it didn't.

Status: new → closed

We're soon switching to a more powerful server and shouldn't face server downtimes anymore.

It sounds great! The OpenStreetMap associated websites the only ones where I regularly met server timeouts.

Action

The resolution will be deleted. Next status will be 'reopened'.

Add Comment
