#17075 new enhancement

extend "new message warning" to other types of communications

Reported by: joostschouppe Owned by: team
Priority: normal Milestone:
Component: Core Version:

Description

Some mappers assume all their messages are shown in their JOSM. Changeset comments are not, nor are comments to their Notes. This leads to bad blood when others think they are being ignored. Could the feed for changeset comments be integrated in the JOSM inbox?

Unfortunately a changeset comment doesn't appear in the OSM mailbox, so I see no way to inform the user.

There is a subscribe mechanism.

We could offer a checkbox to offer the possibility to be notified about changesets we create from JOSM. And also a button/menu item in changeset manager to subscribe to any existing changeset (not only ours).

It's possible to have a feed from http://resultmaps.neis-one.org/
For example, http://resultmaps.neis-one.org/osm-discussion-comments?uid=67832&feed=yes

But it's necessary to convert user name → user id for this and have some machinery to deal with the feed.
