I don't know if the installer allows that, but if it does, it may be a good idea to add -J-Xmx1g to the command line of both the desktop and the start menu shortcuts.

The same thing goes for the web start version, again if possible.

It was already set to 1Gb and we increased it to 2Gb in r13722.

Indeed, it's set to 2Gb for the setup.exe version.

Would it be feasible to do the same for the josm.jnlp version (which is currently recommended on the download page)?
