Unable to create subsequent nodes in a line

What steps will reproduce the problem?

1. Create a blank layer or download data into a new layer
2. Create a node

What is the expected result?

You will be able to draw a line as normal

What happens instead?

You are not able to create a line, beyond one additional node, then you must deselect the line and reselect to create the subsequent node.

Please provide any additional information below. Attach a screenshot if possible.
