Description

We have 25 (at Maps) resp. 24 (at maps) (I don't know where the difference comes from) <mirror> imagery entries in our database. It would be good if they are available within JOSM. Reasons are

  • primary source is temporary inavailable
  • primary source is not the fastest for every user
  • mirror source supports different projections
  • ...?

The solution could be one or more of:

  • add mirrors as sub entries in the imagery preferences
  • add mirrors as sub entries in the imagery menu
  • ask the user if he wants to switch to a mirror source if tile loading fails or takes very long
  • automatically switch to a mirror source if tile loading fails or takes very long
  • ...?

This one first, then don't pick a mirror if projections are not matching.


Please always count me for options with automatic resolving without user action.

ticket is half fixed. mirror entries appear now in the preferences since r11570.
