#12561 closed enhancement (fixed)

Warn before uploading huge features (especially buildings)

Reported by: anonymous Owned by: team
Priority: normal Milestone: 16.04
Component: Core validator Version: latest
Keywords: buildings, size Cc:

Description

JOSM should warn before uploading huge buildings.

See for example changeset http://www.openstreetmap.org/browse/changeset/37377131 and german forum discussion at http://forum.openstreetmap.org/viewtopic.php?pid=579055#p579055 .

There is a warning for very large segments, but this should be clarified when the feature is an area feature or especially a building.

According to List_of_largest_buildings_in_the_world, the largest building in the world is Boeing Everett Factory with 398.000 m²: osmwww:way/26996005

So the limit is easy to implement :)

No in fact the largest one is wikipedia:Aalsmeer_Flower_Auction with 518.000 m² - osmwww:way/271575968

In 9985/josm:

fix #12561 - warning for too large buildings (more than 500.000 m² - tested against Aalsmeer Flower Auction, 471.000 m²)

Can it also warn about too long buildings (one side of it)? I've seen a deformed one with several km in length.
It could sneak by this new area test if the other side was only several meters long (as is usual).
