Description
Version 8339. Updated plugins today. Imported image is a quicklook downloaded from earthexplorer.usgs.gov (LC80990642015018LGN00). I am editing around Tari, in Papua New Guinea.

Hi,
I am importing a Landsat8 quicklook. I tried to reproject the image and failed (details in a different ticket)
This is what I am doing now:
- setting the Map Projection for JOSM to UTM 54N (the one of the data) *before* importing the image. The selection results in EPSG: 32654. Bonds: 136.0 -5.0 146.0 85.0
- Image > import image. Warning message saying no .prj file found. I need to chose between the default image projection (EPGS: 32754) or current JOSM (EPGS: 32654). I chose current JOSM (the other will not work and the image won't show)
- (Image loads well) A white line appears in the middle of the screen. This white line will block any movement of the image to the south (the line will be "stuck" in the middle of the screen and won't go up). However it will "go down" and allow me to browse to the north. (Screenshot 1)
- I can download OSM data and it will be well fit (apparently, as I can't zoom in). Screenshot 2
- I can zoom in, but only if the white line stays in the middle or below. Screenshot 3
All this effectively blocks the capacity of editing using the image as a background.
Thanks for your help, or orientation if I am doing something wrong.
Cheers,
Juan

Update:
It might not be a plugin issue. I am updating the ticket, but still new here, please correct me if doing things in the wrong way.
I tried Piclayer plugin. The plugin requires to load data before displaying the image, so I did. And then I found the same problem, even before loading the image. This is what I did:
- Changed the projection to UTM54N WGS84, before loading data
- Downloaded a section of the map, in central Papua New Guinea
- Can't zoom or move up the map.
PNG is located in the southern hemisphere. Could this be the issue? I know it seems to be not consistent to use UTM54 NORTH, but this is how NASA distributes the data for PNG. I tried again with UTM54S and it works fine in the sense that I can do zoom and pan around the data, but then I can't add the image as it has a different projection (and none of the plugins will do the warping)
After several attempts, I found a way around the issue. This is the procedure that actually made it work:
- Set projection to UTM54 *South* before downloading data
- Download desired area. Will work fine zoom and pan
- Open the image. A dialog will ask if I want to keep my current JOSM projection (UTM54S) or the one from the image (UTM54N). I choose the one from the image.
- Image will load fine, and I will be able to zoom in.
Why is it that if I use UTM North I can't edit in the south? Could it be a feature instead of a bug?
Note that I am still using ImportImage plugin
Note that if I start directly with UTM54N it will not work, I need to trick JOSM to use South first, then change it to north through the plugin (this is the issue reported now in the ticket).
Thanks,
Juan
Have you tried Piclayer plugin? It is better maintained and has similar features (except warping of images from one projection to another).
