"Including a node into the nearest way segment" should not bend the way

Description

"Including a node into the nearest way segment" should not bend the way to pass through the node. The node should move. Else, it is "Have the nearest way segment pass through a node".

In practice, if for example a plugin creates a node with addr:housenumber and we want to move that node onto the wall of the house, it's difficult to do it without changing the house geometry.

Alternatively, moving the node might snap it onto the way. Then, rewording the inclusion to use the second definition above causes no problem as the node can always be aligned beforehand.

Thanks.

We already have the two behaviours:

  • Join Node to Way (J)
  • Move Node onto Way (N)

Oops, I mistook M for N in your reply and this is correcting absent-mindness.
Short-sighted ;-)
I was saying that JT also does what I want.
Thanks.
