Left click selection box doesn't always disappear

Steps to reproduce:

1. Download some data or open a local file.
2. Hit 's' to active the selection tool.
3. Left click and hold to make a selection.
4. While still holding down the left button on your mouse, hit the right click at the same time to have the right click menu show up.
5. Left click out of the 'right click menu'.

What happens:
The section box that you created with the left click is still on the screen.

What should happen:
The box should disappear right away.

Work around:
If you left click again, the box then disappears, but you shouldn't need to click the left click again. Also, you can 'right click pan' and have the box stay visible till you finally left click again.
