Description

JOSM does no more display that modifications were made to the data (by adding a * in front of the title) and does not issue a warning when exiting the application (Unsaved changes/There are unsaved changes. Discard the changes and continue? Yes/No)

probably related to new layer code and or http://josm.openstreetmap.de/ticket/262?

This does not happen (i.e. a * IS added to the title and a warning IS issued) when the osm-data-layer (the one with the small magnifier glass) is selected in the "list of all loaded layers" while changing anything.

If another layer is selected (e.g. GPS or Validation-errors) changes can be made but no notification is done.

Summary: no more modification-warnings and -displayinactive layer can be edited (leads to no modification-warnings and -display)

I can confirm this but I think the "error" is that you can edit an inactive layer...

New bug description:

When activating the e.g. validation-error-layer, one can still edit data in the OSM data layer.

Those changes are not recognized as changes by JOSM regarding the asterisk in the application title and the are-you-sure-warning when deleting a layer.

I can confirm this for build 754, interestingly you can edit any data layer whilst eg. a gpx layer is active, but if you have multiple data layers and one of them is active, you can only edit the active data layer.

Fixed in r845.

The possibility to modify the OSM data layer when the GPX layer is active was very useful because of the better contrast. The GPX track might be difficult to see in an area with lots of ways even if the color of the track has been changed.
