Help/Preferences/Map
v14 v15 9 9 10 10 You can change the map projection method between Mercator, and some others. Be aware that projections maybe only valid for a certain area of the world.[[BR]] 11 Proposed update (please check):[[BR]] 12 Here, "projection" probably means a projection to which OSM data is translated before being displayed on the screen. 13 Ticket #5387 comments 7 and 9 state that, unlike other programs, JOSM cannot translate raster projections, only vector. 14 Hence, all the raster scan overlays that you use in this case must support the projection that you set here. 15 Consequently, either JOSM forces their servers to use that projection or one has to force them manually. 16 (I can't say which because I couldn't get projection 3170 working this way) 11 The default projection for JOSM is Merkaartor. This projection has certain advantages, one of them is that geometric figures (e.g. circles and rectangles) aren't deformed when displayed. 17 12 18 == Map Paint Styles == #FIXME 13 When you use rasterized background imagery then you need to set a projection supported by the service providing this imagery. JOSM is not able to change raster images. When image projection and current settings do not match, you get warned. 14 15 == Map Paint Styles == 16 17 In this section sources for displaying the data can be changed. Beside the internal styles also externals styles are presented and can be activated. 19 18 20 19 == Tagging Presets ==
