This menu item is only available when the wmsplugin plugin has been installed.

The wmsplugin allows you to use various sources as a background layer in the main window. Once the plugin is installed it causes a new checkbox option "WMS background images" to be displayed in the Download Dialog. Depending on what is set as the WMS source, as detailed below, various background images will then be available for download and display in the main window.

Set full WMS URL

Use Rectifer WMS URL

Use Metacarta's ​Map Rectifier to display recified WMS images as a background in the main window. Note if you are using these images for editing then you need to ensure the image, and its method of rectification, are free of any copyright issues.

Use Landsat

Same behaviour as the landsat plugin, allows use of NASA Landsat images as a background.

Use NPE maps

Use out of copyright ​New Popular Edition Ordnance Survey maps as a background.
