Lasso mode

Keyboard shortcut: S+S (expert mode only) (press S again to toggle between Select mode and this Lasso mode) — is one of the working modes

Lasso selection mode selects objects within a hand-drawn region.
The only difference between Lasso mode and Select mode is the area selection mode. Selecting single object and all other actions are identical.

1. Activate the mode (press S to toggle between the Lasso mode and the Select mode).
2. Hold the Left mouse button and draw a loop around the objects. The modifier keys are the same as for the rectangular selection mode.
   • Hold the Right mouse button to move your drawn loop.
   • Hold the Right mouse button when releasing the Left mouse button to cancel lasso selection.
3. The selection can then be refined with other selection tools (filters, search, regular selection tool).

Advanced Preferences

Set mappaint.select.toggle-lasso-on-repeated-S to false in the advanced preference to disable the lasso mode completely.
