| Hi,
|
| I'm happy to announce the first version of the IBGE layer, based on
| the PDFs from the population count survey. The final result is a map
| of the whole Brazil, with approximately 75 GB of tiles. This map will
| be very handy to extract road names.
|
| Remember to use the tag "source=IBGE" when using data taken from this
| layer. This is a requirement by data made availiable by IBGE:

|
| Acknowledgments:
|
| - Dominik Röttsches (abrax5), for offering and maintaining the
| infrastructure needed to generate and upload the maps. Also for
| introducing me to the world of maps and teaching a lot of stuff about
| projections.
| - Mapbox, in special Alex Barth, for proactively offering storage
| space for hosting the tiles and Will White for the quick tech support
| when I needed. And of course, for the amazing opensource tools like
| Tilemill.
| - The OSM Brazil community for the important feedback and keeping me motivated.
|
| Known issues:
|
| - Rio de Janeiro capital is missing, I'm on it.
| - São Grabriel da Chachoeira - AM is very misplaced to the north.
| - Some parts of Belém are in the middle of the sea for an unknown reason.
| - Something else that you are going to report. :)
|
| Br and happy mapping!
