I recognise this user, it is yet another faulty edit from him, he is ignoring messages and I will delete this way. One of his previous edits was caught by validator on "way crossing other ways" test (it was cycleway duplicating existing ones, with weird tags and going through everything including buildings, roads etc).
So in this case: either beginner or troll (there were some very suspicious edits).
Anyway, it would be nice to have it easily detectable (I found this as I am filtering OSM data for my own purposes and I was checking output of things unrecognised by my filters).

Mistagged building (comment in one of changesets, building are visible in aerial view). I am retagging this way.

Mmm ok it's very easy to produce this with iD (1.3.1). Although there's a discrete warning before saving (iD informs me about "untagged area") the editor does not really forces user to fix them...)

Please open a bug report against iD as the default for closed ways should be area=yes without tag and only for certain keys like highway=* you need to take the differences in account.
Upload of objects only tag with area=yes/no should not work and produce an error warning on all editors.
