Error loading bing attribution data

Description

Sometimes when opening JOSM v6115 in Windows, the statement "Error loading bing attribution data" is shown in the lower right corner. Then, new tiles stop getting loaded and instead, the message "Error: Attribution not loaded yet" is shown in the tiles' location.

This happens pretty randomly and usually gets sorted within a day or two. In the same time frame, I am able to load the Bing imagery in JOSM v6115 in Ubuntu without any issues.

The "Error loading bing attribution data" it happens when you load JOSM without internet connection for the first time. What I did to solve the problem is re-adding your Bing Imagery into you imagery list.

  1. Make sure you have internet connection
  2. Open JOSM
  3. Go to Imagery > Imagery Preferences
  4. Remove Bing Imagery from your imagery list
  5. Add Bing Imagery to your imagery list

If it is still show the same error, on Windows, (close JOSM first) you can search %APPDATA% and you'll find a folder called Roaming, go to the folder and go to JOSM. Delete the preferences.xml and preferences_bak.xml. Then run JOSM again (but you'll need to re-configure your preferences agasin, plugins, language, dll)

There is also some issue with antivirus/firewall that blocking the connection when downloading the attribution. For example in my case is Avast!. Try to disable the antivirus and re-add the Bing imagery from imagery preferences.
