    1 Actually, I used Josm for a about a year without going to look&feel and drawing preferences, so they are all expert. They are only used by few, but some of them are more useful than others (like id)

    3 You can restore old behaviour if really needed.

    5 Maybe we should open a separate ticket "Moving some preferences to expert mode" to make a decision which preferences should be expert?
