Description
Yahoo service is supposedly still up and running, but the "proxy" on the JOSM server no longer works.
E.g. http://josm.openstreetmap.de/wmsplugin/YahooDirect.html?bbox=7.1013085,50.7382453,7.1073214,50.7420506&srs=EPSG:4326&width=500&height=500
should give an image.

There is a discussion in talk@ on this, because Yahoo layers were not removed from both Potlatch editors, and the situation with permissions has not changed at all: http://lists.openstreetmap.org/pipermail/talk/2011-October/060447.html
Is it possible to restore YahooDirect.html?

I host the old files here: http://www.dstoecker.eu/josm/YahooDirect.html.

Agree with Zverikk, JOSM is the only editor, who removed Yahoo from it's layers.
Others (potlatch, merkaartor, Mapzen) still show old good Yahoo files.
Images in above mentioned editors haven't changed, so I suppose nor did license change. I believe change is in new images Yahoo gets from new image providers (I see fresh images from DigitalGlobe for my city, when I visit maps.yahoo.com with my browser)
Stoecker thanks a lot for your file. I was giving up to contributing to OSM because of that.
Can't we bring it back, officially?
Cause it's tricky to explaing to newbies, how to make JOSM show images they see in other editors.

I hope Yahoo won't close their service the day after next JOSM stable version :/

I feel dumb, but after few hours spent, I'm still unable to add Yahoo Imagery into new JOSM version, using http://www.dstoecker.eu/josm/YahooDirect.html provided.
It works smooth and very straighforward in old JOSM 4399, but, not in new 4550.
I've tried different prefixes (html:, wms:, nothing), tried mentioning wms parametres "http://www.dstoecker.eu/josm/YahooDirect.html?layers=landsat&SRS={proj}&WIDTH={width}&HEIGHT={height}&BBOX={bbox}"
Still I'm getting only red tiles, with "ERROR" written on them.
I'd highly appreciate help or hint, on how Yahoo imagery should be added in new JOSM versions, as out of the box, it doesn't work anymore.

Why do you assume so? The Yahoo-Sat links have been reinstalled (see comment 5). You simply need to add Yahoo as map source like any other map source.

It looks like something related to Imagery was changed in new JOSM versions (4550, and an older version I have at my workplace, can't remember versix 44xx).
I've tried a clean install of 4550, and simply activating Yahoo Sat layer from preferences, and enabling it. And I still get same red tiles with "ERROR" on them.
While on 4399, indeed built-in, "official" version, which wasn't working some time ago, began to work again, without additional configuration or alternative URLs.
I've attached preferences file, of newly installed, and otherwise unmodified 4550 and a screenshot.
Hope this helps. If confirmed, guess, I should create a new ticket, as technicallu it seems to be new issue.
I'm using portable installetion of JOSM. with PortableApps.com and Java portable with Java App launcher. Soft enviroment is Win 7 64 bit and java version "1.6.0_29".

Thought, that may be it's portable version which has provlems with Yahoo, because webkit wasn't inlcuded with it.
Tried same with Windows Intaller version of 4550, same issues.
I deleted the Yahoo WMS proxy files after Yahoo shut down the JavaScript API. If it is still running, then anyway the legal situation is not clear anymore and we could not offer it thus. Experienced users can use TMS when they know how :-)
