Can't "download along" a pure waypoints gpx file / marker layer / geotagged images layer

A gpx file need to contain a track to enable downloading around the waypoints. A pure waypoint gpx file only creates a "marker layer". This layer type doesn't have a "download along" action.
The same problem apply to geotagged image layers.
These layers are probably usually accompanied by a gpx layer, so it isn't a huge problem. I've personally encountered the problem more than once though. (well, I had a gpx track, but only needed the waypoints. (My gps saves them separately)

Just stumbled over this old ticket. Download along needs a way/line for its calculations. If the waypoints have different timestamps it would be possible to connect them in that order.
