#6849 closed defect (invalid)
regression for paste

Description (last modified by )
When the feature was introduced that "paste" would paste where the mouse cursor was, it was said that paste from the menu should paste at the original position. Currently this is not the case (pastes in the center of the viewport). Alternatively there could be an additional "paste at the original position"

Isn't that something completely different than the ticket you created ? I don't see how not pasting an object at its original position is a major regression. If it is something really needed, I think it would be better to keep "Paste" behaviour unchanged (mouse location if correct) and modify the "Duplicate" action to do so. Would that be OK for you ?

Is there an alternative possibility to move data from one layer to another? If not I'd consider this a major problem (and in the past it did work).
It does paste the object at its original position when it is copied from one layer to another.
If you want 2 identical objects on the same layer, you can copy to a new layer and then merge both layers.

Better not. It is hard to see when objects are directly on top of each other. JOSM has no visualization for this kind of collision, so it wouldn't be an improvement for general use.

Nice, didn't notice this.
