Please do not render closed ways with piste:type=* as areas as long as there is no area=yes set.
Validator complains about a piste:type=downhill as a unclosed way.

The warning is due to sport=skiing, which is not allowed on unclosed ways (cf. https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Tag:sport=skiing). When this tag is removed, no warning is shown. Therefore I consider this ticket as invalid.

According to https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Key:sport sport=skiing is allowed on unclosed ways.
The preset Sports/sport/skiing creates sport=skiing. The tag seems to be required.
On the ground observations shows, skiing is performed in the very most cases on a linear piste.
