Users in online editor can see the
appeal of other users.
We also need this capability. Some
peoples are very rarely visited the
project, but make a lot of edits.
Sometimes they are very important to
communicate to solve problems.
Good idea to place a link on the home
page for new messages (and their
number). Or even a real mail client

You can already call the users page of openstreetmap and use the contact form there. JOSm is an editor and no operating system, so we will stick to our core functionality.
