Two seperate buttons (inner) & (outer) besides :Apply role:" in "Relations" dialog, so we can faster assign role to standard multipolygon elements.
Or make them customizable.

You can try Relation Toolbox plugin, it simplifies creating multipolygons and other relations (but having those buttons would also be awesome).

I think it would also help if the roles offered by JOSM are filter by the relation type.
Isn't that available since r1916 (in its first form)?
No.
- have data with two relations (route with member stop + associatedStreet with member street
- open relation editor for associatedStreet
- add a member with role=street
typing "st" you get offered "stop" which has nothing todo with associatedStreet and is not used in any associatedStreet relation in local data.

I have opened a new ticket for the filtering: #8262.

We now have a "Update multipolygon" action as well as a clever auto-suggestion for roles (which works for relations other than multipolygon), so I don't think this feature is needed in addition to all that.
I think it would also help if the roles offered by JOSM are filter by the relation type.
