Why? For example, when it's necessary to tag all the nodes on a way; or to delete them all.
If this can be achieved using search; how - and with how many keystrokes or mouse clicks, compared to the requested functionality?

a) Why do you want to tag all nodes of a way with same tags?
b) To delete all nodes simply delete the way?
c) Search for "child selected" and select way previously. You can add such a search to toolbar, so you need 1 mouse-click.

regarding b), You can't delete all nodes on a way if those nodes contain tags. Sometimes there is a wish to delete both the way and all its tagged nodes. An example is where a way is used for address interpolation where each node along the way is tagged. If you want to delete the lot you have to select each node as well as the way. This is a bit of a pain.

This is a security measure and thus it should not be easy. For these cases the search function can be used as already told.

For the original request: There is a tool in Utilsplugin2, that does exactly this.
Why?
BTW: You can use search to get the desired result.
