Illegal tag/value error message is useless at best

Whey I load relation 1144866 in JOSM and run the validator, I get an
"illegal tag/value combinations" error with no details. Is there an
error here that I'm missing, or is it a bug in JOSM?

I don't get this message for that relation, so I can't tell what you are doing wrong, but this message always is accompanied with a deeper description.

It happens for me in versions 3459 and 3473; screenshot attached.

What version of validator do you have running? Try updating - The wrong error message with "outer relation member of wrong type must vanish in newest version". In the josm-directory "plugins/validator" path the are files with "mirror" and/or numbers starting. Please delete these and try new. Maybe you have old versions of these and auto-update somehow failed.

Please upload the OSM file where you get the error. Maybe there are other elements involved as well.

I update plugins every time I update JOSM; I have 22805 right now. (I'm not sure where to find the "plugins/validator" path; the only subfolder is C:\Program Files\JOSM\imageformats.) As for the OSM file, all I did was hit ctrl-shift-O and download the relation. Do you at least get the other warnings in my screenshot?

The josm dir you do find somewhere in your Windows home folder: Help/ResetPreferences. I see every other check except the "outer role one", as this I fixed in 22805.

Ah, deleting the old plugin files worked.
